Completed 50 days successfully at onsite!!!

I reported to client on 29th April 2010 at Aalborg, Denmark. Successfully completed 50 days at client place and worked with client. Initially it was very difficult because I am completely new SAP technology. I worked in testing client server application, web application earlier.My complete 3 years 6 months experience was with only one client i.e. citifinancial north america(CFNA). Here they are starting a independent testing competency team so no process was set.We need to define a well matured and result oriented testing process for them. I provided lot of document support to the team. I was given a project to work on it. I am doing well in the project.

I roamed around the Aalborg city with friends and found a lot of differences compared to Indian cities. Main timepass for us is watching movies over internet. People here drink a lot of wine(beer,whiskey, rum and wine). We saw an event called Aalborg Karneval where they enjoy a lot during the event. They drink like anything and enjoyed like anything on that day. we also part of the event but we were just in gallery. Few of my friends went inside the park also. But we didnt go. This event is the biggest event in entire North Europe. So many people enjoyed throught the day and finally in the evening they went inside park to celebrate the event with DJ and etc etc.

I still didnt get my work permit. My BV got expired on 6th of June 2010. I cancelled my return tickets to India and extended my onsite travel insurance till June 30. In almost all circumstances my fate will be always in negative side only. I know the people who got work permit in 2 weeks time also. But when it comes to me, if I plan any thing it wont go smoothly. This work permit is just an example. I observed so many things which goes wrong when it comes to me in my life(All bank transactions,work with any govt. officials, getting projects calls, interviews to name a few). If I achive anything it wont come without this pain for me. I always take this as positive. Even getting this KMD project also has a great difficulty.

Sometimes I feel that positive attitude brought me here in Denmark today. After coming here I came to know about many things, people here give a lot of importance to their personal life and maintains a strict time schedule towards their working timings and wont stay in office after closing time.

First Impression.....

The people in Denmark are very nice and well deciplined. They follow strict traffic rules and everything goes in accordance with the defined process. I have never seen any security men/women in the office, Almost everything is automated. They dont depend on others. No office boys/helpers in the office. We have to do our work ourselves without any dependency. They follow the timings strictly. They are very helpful and obedient to others. If you ask for help they will help us at any cost without any hesitation.

Many people uses cycles as their means of transport. So many people are coming to office on cycles only. They walk very fastly. I was unable to cope up with their walking speed. The roads are very clean. I didnt find a small paper also on the roads.

I had my breakfast in the hotel and I didnt find anything other than fruit salad and corn flakes becouse all the items kept were new to me. I didnt dare to try them becouse they eat more beaf,pork and all. Even I didnt touch bread also fearing that was also made with beaf or pork. Then I took intercity Bus along with my Team lead(Venkataseshagiri)who came to hotel to pick up me. Here office timings are from 8AM to 4PM. It was very difficult for people like me who wakes up at 8AM. Buses follows strict timing. Got down within 5 mins and I paid 18DKK as the fare. Then I saw the office building,I find it same as in google maps. It is beside the seashore and a small harbour. We can get the excellent view of the sea and can see few ships(small and medium sized) in the sea. I really like that view.

We went to reception, I got a guest card to enter the oofice. Then we went to our office space, met Allen and Peter, KMD client people. We had few introduction meetings and I got my laptop, ID card on the same day.I met few of our satyam colleagues in the lunch hour. My first day in client location ended happily. The next 3 days were holidays.

After staying 3 days in Hotel Phoneix, I joined with Srinivas Parasaram in his apartment at Carit Etlars Gade 8 on 1st may 2010. He is from Guntur district, working as functional consultant in FICO module.We roamed in the city and did shopping and went to Exchange to convert my dollors cheque(TC) to DKK and paid
advance and roomrent to Srinivas P.They I came to know all rules for the tenant.

I really liked this place and people and their work culture.

My first onsite trip experience - 2

Boarded the flight at 1:15AM on 27th April 2010. I was very happy and little bit scared after seeing the environment in the flight.Flight took off and we were provided with food at around 2:30 AM IST..we were offered veg/non veg/wine and juices. I had vegetarian and orange juice and tried to get the sleep but didnt get proper sleep may be due to first time travel. I was watching vedios kept in the monitors and watching the route display over the big screen infront of me. Its displaying the route map and environment details inside and outside the flight.
Everyone in the flight were sleeping on doing something but I slept hardly. Again at 5 AM flight time(I dont know IST or ?? )we were offered breakfast with tea.
Landed in Frankfurt airport at 7:15 AM Eropean time no onwards, 80% of the people in the Lufthansa flight were from Andhra Pradesh.
I just followed the co travellers and got into the local bus and came to Terminal another terminal where my flight to Kopenhagen starts. I went for passport stamping and started towards my terminal. I was keep walking around 15 mins and still arrows were showing directions about my terminal then I realised the importance of trolley hand baggages. Frankfurt airport is very huge. Then I waited for 30 mins and boarded the Kopenhagen bound SAS flight. I asked for water to the airhotess after that realised that we need to purchase the water in flight I purchased 500ml water and paid 5$, my first purchase outside india. In denmark minaral water is costly compared to wine. I landed in Kopenhagen and exchanged my travellers cheque and purchased Prepaid SIM and made a call to my colleague in Aalborg about my arrival in Kopenhagen.

Then took a taxi and went to Hotel(Best Western Hotel Hebron) and stayed there on 27th night and the next day went to Danish Embassy, applied for work permit and came back to room. I roamed around the streets of Kopenhagen and found many things like many people are using cycles, the way they respect traffic system, their life style etc etc. Went to Indian Taj hotel and had a entirely different biryani there. on 28th at 4:05PM boarded flight to Aalborg and reached Aalborg at 4:50PM. Venkatasesharigi came to airport and received me then we went to hotel Helnan Phonex by a taxi.

My first onsite trip experience - 1

After so many difficulties, I got a chance to visit onsite.First time in my IT/Job career I gave a Video conference interview on 23rd March 2010 for 60 mins. Then next day I was very happy to know that I got selected for onsite, but the sad part of it was the work will be on SAP application. The client is KMD,Denmark, a large Danish IT company. I dont have any experience in SAP. I shared my happiness with my family members and few friends. I could not share with my previous project team(CFNA)members due to some issues.

I tried a lot to get some hands on experience on SAP, but it didnt work. Then I realised the need of having more number of friends in profession and life. I applied for Business Visa on 29th March 2010, I got the Visa and i was waiting for the confirmation to travel. But then major parts of the airports were closed due to the Volcanoic Euruption in Iceland in Europe. My onsite trip got postponed and I was waiting for the travel date.

Finally I got the itinerary confirming my travel date on 27th April 2010 at 1:15AM from Hyderabad. I started from my room(kukatpally)along with my dearest friends and my sister joined us at SR Nagar. My journey started to Denmark. We reached RGIA and Raju took few photographs and then I proceeded towards Check in at 11:30PM.
